I have made my own dulce de leche many times. I use a smaller crockpot and remove the label from cans, cover the cans completely with water ,put on the lid and cook on high over night. In the morning remove cans and let cool completely before opening. Never had a problem and very good.
Banana cupcakes topped with caramel? Oh boy you better believe I like the looks of this!! I have never tried the canned caramel…it looks amazing and I am questioning why I never bought it before:-) And now I really want to try making my own too! Super fun giveaway too!!! Ashley, these look so tasty! I’ve never made my own dulce de leche with sweetened condensed milk. so interesting! delve de leche + banana make a great pair! sally @ sallys baking addiction recently posted..oreo cheesecake cookies.
I LOOOOOOVE salted caramel. And banana cake (it’s seriously up there along with lemon cake and funfetti–SO moist and delish). Genius tip about opening a can of dulce de leche as frosting because honestly, the frosting part is the most tedious of cake baking. I’m all for smearing some caramel and sea salt on top and going to town eating 🙂 and I’m sure Doodle loved his Super Mario party! Hayley @ The Domestic Rebel recently posted..Lemon Pound Cake
