What’s In Your Kitchen Wednesday

Well, we’ve made it {successfully} through the first week of school.  Doodle has proclaimed his new teacher “awesome,” he’s enjoying playing on the first grade {aka BIG KID} playground, and we’re finally into the swing of a new routine.

Doodle already brought home a sales flyer for the first fundraiser of the year.  I hated selling that stuff when I was a kid, and I hate it even more as a parent.  I’d rather just make a one-time donation to the school in exchange for them agreeing not to put a bug in my kid’s ear that he can “earn” a jumbo-sized pencil and a mini-fridge by selling 20 Entertainment books.

Other than that, we’re heading into karate tournament time and football season (go CATS!) – and you know what that means?!?!  Fall is just around the corner.  I’m ready to break out the pumpkin, apples, and cinnamon and dive head first into fall baking.

Are you ready for pumpkin overload around here?  ‘Cause I have a feeling it’s on its way. ;-)  What’s your favorite fall flavor?

Okie-doke, enough chit-chat.  Let’s get onto the features!

This week’s top viewed post were these Lemon Cake Batter Truffles from Simply Suzanne’s At Home.  Suddenly, I have an urge to make a cake! ;-)

I’m a sucker for anything boasting fresh mozzarella in the ingredients-list. I’ve gotta try this Caprese Quinoa Salad from Real Housemoms.  Yum!

If you’ve ever wanted to try making your own Creme Brulee but didn’t know where to begin, start with this step-by-step tutorial from Home Cooking Memories.

How-To-Make-Creme-Brulee

As much as I love to experiment with new recipes and flavors, a good, traditional Chicken Parmesan is still hands-down one of my favorite dinners.  Check out this version from The Salty Kitchen!

And holy cow, how awesome do S’mores Chocolate Zucchini Muffins sound?  To be honest, I’ve been staring at these from Taste of Lizzy T’s for the last five minutes and wishing a batch would just magically appear in my kitchen.

Thank you all so much for coming back each week to make this party a great success! I love seeing all of your great creations, and it’s such an awesome way for me to find new blogs to stalk read.

This past week has been full of milestones at my house.  We made a trip to the emergency room, lost two teeth in one day, and started the first grade.

So, please…someone pass the cupcakes. ;-)

No really, I’m stress eating and I need.more.sugar.

Sugar aside, we’re eating healthy on school mornings this year, and I’ve teamed up with The American Egg Board to offer one of you a year’s supply of eggs.  So make sure you enter!

This week’s top viewed post was this Strawberry Lavender Cake from Blahnik Baker.  Isn’t it gorgeous?

And because I’ve got cupcakes on the brain this week, check out these Oatmeal Creme Pie Cupcakes from The Brunette Baker.  They have marshmallow buttercream frosting, ya’ll.

As much as we love Mexican food around my house, we’re equal opportunists when it comes to Asian food.  So, we’re totally making this Beef and Broccoli Stir-Fry from This Silly Girl’s Life.

And eek!  I”m so excited that Becca is as much of a pumpkin lover as I am…anyone else ready for Fall baking?  Then make sure to check out these Mini Pumpkin Chocolate Muffins from Crumbs and Chaos.

And, if you’re like me, and looking for school lunch ideas, check out this awesome list from Growing Up Gabel!

What’s In Your Kitchen Wednesday

Whew!  I’m back from vacation but still recovering.  You know, I’m kind of in that post-vacation let down period where I’m completely bummed that someone else isn’t making my bed for me every day, and that I can’t pop down to the awesome breakfast buffet and load up my plate in gorging oblivion without having to dirty my own kitchen.

Even worse, school starts next week, and I’m not ready for it.  At.All.  I mean, we have all the school supplies purchased and ready to go, lunch plans made and backpack packed…but this mama isn’t ready to send her kiddo off to the big, bad world of first grade.

#sendhelpintheformofchocolatecake

#oramargarita

Or, this really awesome Indian Fry Bread from A Mother’s Shadow.  It was last week’s most viewed link!

And speaking of chocolate, take a look at these Biscoff Brownies from Heather’s French Press. OMG.

Also, since it’s still summer and I’m all about eating all of the ice cream (I do mean ALL; let’s not talk about how much I ate on vacay), I could absolutely use a huge slice of this Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream Pie from Life, Love, and Sugar.

Yep, the diet starts next week, because I’m totally making these Chicken Enchiladas with Sour Cream White Sauce from Raining Hot Coupons.

I’m already planning easy school night meals for this Fall…and I know this Sloppy Joe Under a Bun Casserole from Julie’s Eats and Treats will be a winner with my 6-year old. We love sloppy joes at our house. ;-)

What’s In Your Kitchen Wednesday

Hi everyone!  Whew, I’m totally relieved that we’re finally through the crazy birthday party season here at my house, but now I have a new thing to stress about…we’re getting ready to start first grade.

I just received an e-mail from Doodle’s new teacher, complete with a supply list…a supply list that requires 25 glue sticks plus extras.  Also?  Four boxes of crayons and a million or so sharpened pencils.  Oh, and about a million kleenex boxes for me when I send my baby off to first grade.

Before we get to the party, make sure you click over and enter the Amazon gift card giveaway I”m co-hosting with a ton of super awesome bloggers.  It’s for $500, so you don’t want to miss it!

This week’s most view post was No-Bake Peanut Butter Chocolate Cheesecake with a Saltine Crust from Pint-Sized Treasures.  Holy cow, I need to make this ASAP!

I’m also really interested in these Gooey Frito Bars from Julie’s Eats and Treats.  I love the sweet and salty combination, so these are right up my alley!

I’m a fool for easy recipes and crock pot recipes, so this Crock Pot Ravioli from Real Easy Recipes is definitely happening in my kitchen soon!

And wow, there’s nothing I don’t love about this Caramel Banana Tiramisu from Butter, with a side of Bread.

We try to eat fish at least once a week, and in taco form?  With cilantro cream?  Sign me up for these crunchy fish tacos from The Home Heart!

What’s In Your Kitchen Wednesday

Whew…is anyone else having the busiest summer on record?  Between work, camp activities, family outings, and my desire for actual sleep, I’m completely behind on anything blog related.  It’s not that I’m ignoring you, I’m just trying to make sure my priorities are focused in the right place: and right now, that’s family-time with my guys. ;-)

Not only that, we’ve been battling with a local appliance company on reimbursement for damages caused to our home when they failed to hook up our dishwasher correctly.  We ended up with water pooled above our basement ceiling…which resulted in cutting a hole, draining the water, running fans for four days, having the ducts cleaned throughout the entire house, and next on the list: patching the hole and having the entire ceiling redone.

I am not a happy camper.

Fortunately, food always seems to cheer me up, so let’s get on to the party features.

This week’s most viewed post was Homemade Almond Joy Ice Cream from Mom on Timeout…how fabulous does this look??  Even better – you don’t need an ice cream maker!

almond-joy-ice-cream-no-machine-homemade

And while we’re talking about awesome frozen treats, check out these Homemade Fruit Popsicles from Stockpiling Moms.  Oh my goodness, how pretty are these?

frozen-homemade-popsicle-final

Who else is a sucker for homemade bread? If you answered you, then you need to take a look at this Whole Wheat Cinnamon Swirl Bread from The Hub of Our Home. I think I could eat the entire loaf myself.

swirl0003text2

We eat pasta for dinner nearly once a week, and I’m always looking for ways to lighten it up a bit. I think this Shrimp Arugula Linguine from Dizzy Busy and Hungry might just be the answer.

shrimp-arugula-with-linguine-text2

You know I love chicken skewers.  I need to try this Honey Raspberry version from The Plaid and Paisley Kitchen!

What’s In Your Kitchen Wednesday

Hey guys!  I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July holiday.  We had great weather here this year and enjoyed some awesome family time at the pool and around the grill.  Last Saturday, we hosted a family birthday party for Doodle – 20+ people in my living area is a tight squeeze!  This weekend, we’re hosting a kids-only birthday party at the karate school on Saturday, and a pool party for the t-ball team on Sunday.

I’m about partied out! ;-)

Well, except for this party!  Let’s get on to the features!

This week’s top viewed post was Skinny Ice Cream Sandwiches from Crazy for Crust.  Aren’t these the cutest things you’ve ever seen?  Plus, you don’t have to feel guilty about eating them.  Double SCORE.

And while we had great temperatures for the holiday, we’re back into the 100′s here this week…so I’m totally wishing I had a slice of this Bailey’s Chocolate Ice Cream Pie from Confessions of a Baking Queen to cool me down!
