The Honest Company {an honest review}
This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of The Honest Company.
As a food blogger, my kitchen is very well used. I am not a neat cook. I live with a husband who might just be the messiest person on the face of the planet {love him, though} and a five-year old boy. In real life, my world does not look like this:
It looks like the picture on the far left, below:
Only, about 100 times worse and pretty much all.the.time.
Actually, that’s not true. I feel like I follow Doodle around spraying cleaners and disinfectants in his wake. Ugh, now that we’ve entered the public school system, it seems like we’re getting notes on the weekly informing us that someone has pink eye, or strep, or some other contagious crud. So I do like to keep things clean and sanitized.
And even though he’s five and I don’t have to worry so much about him getting into my spray bottles or sticking things in his mouth, I still have a concern about what cleaners and chemicals I use around him. That’s why I was super stoked to have the opportunity to try some kitchen cleaning products from The Honest Company.
If you haven’t heard about The Honest Company before, here’s the background skinny from their website:
The Honest Company was founded by a mom and a dad who, like many modern parents, were increasingly worried about products made with questionable chemical ingredients. But the alternatives they found were often expensive, inaccessible, bland, or ineffective. In response to this clear need for something better, they created The Honest Company to ensure that parents (or anyone for that matter!) could easily find natural and non-toxic eco-friendly products that are beautiful, effective, and affordable.
Oh, and the mom who founded it? Jessica Alba. Yeah, I decided if my body can’t look like hers, maybe at least my kitchen can.
I’m a sucker for multi-surface cleaners. I’m constantly spraying down our countertops – between food blogging, regular meal making, and a five-year old kitchen helper, there’s always something sticky that needs to be cleaned up. I’ve been using this one everyday since receiving it, and I absolutely love it. The multi-surface cleaner and the dish soap were white grapefruit scented, which were really light and refreshing. I’m not typically a fan of citrus scents, but these were very nice.
I even used it to clean my stove top…which was nearly covered in bacon grease splatters from Sunday morning breakfast {the Tall Boy’s handiwork}, and that stuff wiped right off with no smears. I was actually very impressed. Doodle loved the smell and the packaging, and actually wanted to do all the cleaning for me. His words: “Mom, this butterfly is really helping us out.”
Heck, if some cute butterfly packaging entices him to volunteer to be my kitchen cleaner, I’m signed up for life!
I also had the opportunity to try out their floor cleaner, which worked like a breeze on our hardwood floors. When we were finished mopping, the floor looked shiny and sparkly and the entire area smelled fantastic. The floor cleaner is citrus rosemary scented, and I didn’t find it to be too overwhelming in our small space.
Sometimes I’m a little OCD about things “matching,” so I kind of wished that you could get the floor cleaner and surface spray in the same scents, but I did love them both independently.
Doodle insisted on mopping the floors, too. Yep, pretty much loving these cleaners.
I also used their dishwasher pods. I’ll keep it real here: The Honest Company’s pods were nearly twice the cost of what I normally purchase. However, I was really, really pleased with how clean my dishes were and the fact that the pods left absolutely no residue behind.
Sure, some of these products are more than what I normally spend, and like the rest of you out there, I only have so many dollars in my bank account {bummer}. But here’s a few other things to consider:
What if I told you that not only are these products all natural and non-toxic, they also support a really awesome charity? Here’s the scoop from The Honest Company:
We created this company because we care passionately about helping families – ALL families – and we believe that through ordinary purchases people can make a difference in this world.
As we fight to lower our prices without compromising the health and sustainability of our design, we realize there are still many families who cannot afford The Honest Company experience.
That’s not cool with us.
That’s why with every product you purchase, The Honest Company donates product, money, time, and effort to addressing critical health & social issues affecting children and families.
Love this. LOVE.
Honestly, I can tell you that I was genuinely impressed with these products, and I’ll definitely be ordering again – I have a feeling the floor cleaner and the surface cleaner will be staple items in my cleaning tote from now on.

10 EASY SLOW COOKER MEALS RECIPE BOOK
Hello There!
Interestingly enough, I didn’t grow up with an interest in cooking.  In fact, I informed my mother on multiple occasions that I was not getting an advanced education so I could spend my evenings preparing meals.
