Chocolate Salted Caramel Muddy Buddies
These Chocolate Salted Caramel Muddy Buddies got me a “thumbs-up” around my house over the weekend.
I live with a pretty tough dessert crowd. The Tall Boy doesn’t like desserts at all, and Doodle only likes to eat frosting off of brownies like these. Writing a food blog means I make lots of goodies – and I think its become so expected that I have some sort of dessert item sitting on the counter at any given time, that no one really gets that excited when I make some new sweet.
But really, who can resist muddy buddies? You can see that Doodle had a very difficult time keeping his hand out of the bowl during my photo shoot. If we’re being honest, I did, too.
The thing I love most about muddy buddies is that you can change ’em up to make almost any flavor combination that you want. Since I’m into salted caramel right now, that’s the path I chose when I decided we needed a snackable treat around the house over the weekend.
Another thing I love about muddy buddies? They take only about 10 minutes to make.
What I hate about muddy buddies? I can’t.stop.eating.them.
- 7 cups Chocolate Chex cereal
- ¼ cup (4 tablespoons) unsalted butter
- 1 bag (8.5 ounces) Dove Promises Sea Salt Caramel and Dark Chocolate candies
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- Place cereal pieces in a large bowl and set aside.
- Unwrap chocolate candies and place them in a heavy bottomed saucepan. Add butter to saucepan, and melt over low heat, stirring constantly.
- Once the chocolate is completely melted, remove from heat and pour it over your cereal, folding gently to evenly coat. Sprinkle with powdered sugar to coat cereal pieces, stirring and folding until all pieces are covered.

10 EASY SLOW COOKER MEALS RECIPE BOOK

Hello There!
Interestingly enough, I didnโt grow up with an interest in cooking. ย In fact, I informed my mother on multiple occasions that I was not getting an advanced education so I could spend my evenings preparing meals.

im making these tonight but my store didnt carry the salted caramel doves…i dont think ive ever seen these in iowa and i do believe that is a crime against my stomach…im going to use some chocolate chips and add a little kosher salt to give it a similar flavor..thanks for the recipe
LOL, Sarah – I agree with you…definitely a crime! ๐ But your version sounds just as tasty!
looks like puppy chow i make. But your version ,I am gonna try because i love the thought of caramel
I am from Australia and have only recently come across blogs with “puppy chow” and now “muddy buddy” recipes. These are both things I have never heard of. I can’t wait to try some. May have to improvise on some ingredients though. Thanks for the inspiration!
This snack food is addictive, Kellie! Sometimes I wish I didn’t know how yummy it was.
This looks so yummy! I wanna make some but we dont have that dove salted caramel thing. What alternative do yoy suggest I use? Thanks ๐
i am a big amazon warehouse shopper-so i get good deals on stuff and happenned to have a case of Cap’n Crunch’s Chocolatey Crunch and 4 bags of Hershey’s Caramel Kisses on hand!! made the recipe the same with those two substitutions and spread it on a cookie sheet to evenly, sparsely salt. then a bag and the pwd. sugar! made this at my son’s house, DIL mom stopped by and wanted the recipe… tried to tell her, but…”NO!! I want YOUR recipe!!” someday when i use up the cereal i have now–I’ll have to try the original!!
Howdy! I could have sworn I’ve visited this website before but after looking
at a few of the articles I realized it’s new
to me. Regardless, I’m definitely delighted I discovered it and I’ll be bookmarking it and checking back
regularly!
